You can survive the holiday season by planning a budget, paying off your debt and getting a better value credit card
How to survive the holiday seasonThe economy is improving, we are out of recession. The holiday season is just around the corner. There may even be bonuses coming if you are lucky. The World Cup is expected to keep the economy on an even keel, however don't get too excited and splash out over the holidays as it may come back to bite you. So what can you do to ensure that you survive the holiday season with your personal finances intact?

Any extra money that you may have should be spent on managing your debt. The economy may be looking up but there will still be tough times ahead. Most spending is emotionally driven and even if you really want to go all out and get the greatest presents for those you love this year rather plan a budget for what you can afford. Presents that come from the heart are worth more than expensive presents that look flash.

If you are planning on using your credit card this season, rather compare credit cards and get a better value one. Then, again, plan a budget and don't spend more than you can. Your budget should allocate most of your spare cash into managing any debts that you have, this will save you in the long term. It will also help you to survive the holidays. Rather make presents at home and give them with love. The bad times are getting better but don't get carried away and get yourself into a worse situation that you may already have been in.
