Do something about your bank charges

Rather than crying about your bank charges do something about them

10 September 2009 · Staff Writer

There has been something of a furore about bank charges recently. This is an annual party that the country gets invited to by reports into bank charges. Unsurprisingly bank charges go up every year and this year is no exception. The big question is do you still have the same bank account that you did last year? The author does and that is why after writing this story he is going to change his bank account. There is no point in crying about something that you intend to do nothing about. So rather than cry about your bank charges do something about it. What can you do?

Justmoney has an online bank charges calculator that will work out for you the best account for the way that you use your account. If you are not sure how you use your account then get a statement for the last month and plug it into our calculator. You will quickly see where your account charges are adding up and then there are two options. You can either get a new bank account, or you can change the way that you use your account. Bank charges are higher in the branch and cheaper electronically, so stop going to the branch and swap to online banking. The other thing that you can do is to change your bank account and get a new one.

The author knows that he will more than likely continue to use his account the same old way, which means for convenience not always going to his own banks ATMs and paying a premium for that. He also knows that he should take his spending money once a week and stick to it but will more than likely also give in to a few impulse purchases which were not on budget and waste that cash. Knowing this allows the decision to be made that a new bank account is what is necessary. So off to the bank, with an ID, a payslip and a proof of residence. Don't cry about banking charges when there is something you can do about it. Compare your bank account charges today and make tomorrow better.
