Since 1995, Genesis has been one of the leading medical aids in South Africa, providing healthcare funding for what may be described as mainly catastrophic events, such as big accidents, illness or disease. They have a proud heritage of providing exceptional benefits at affordable prices, where some of their benefit options have been awarded as providing best value for money in the open medical scheme market. They were also rated as one of the most successful schemes in South Africa as measured by their claims ratio, ability to pay claims, the access they offer to medical facilities and the benefits provided vs contributions levied.

Medical aid cover for adults starts from just R950 per month on our Private Choice benefit option, while our Private Comprehensive cover is a mere R2 150 per month. Rates for children are considerably lower. Depending which benefit option is selected, the first child costs R320 / R350 per month and subsequent children are covered for only R250 / R275 per month.

Over the last several years, Genesis has been at the forefront of low contribution increases coupled with increased benefits. While the average annual industry increase for 2013, 2014 and 2015 has been in the region of 9%, their average contribution increases were the lowest in the industry at only 4.95% in 2013, 6.4% in 2014 and 5.3% in 2015. Their 2016 increase of only 5.5% is once again the lowest of all open medical schemes.
