Make sure that you have the following items in your bag before you leave for the holidays
23 December 2009 · Staff Writer
The car is packed and you are just finishing off a last few emails at the office before hitting the road, but are you really ready for the holidays? Who is looking after your house while you are gone and what happens if one of the 280 drunk drivers that are supposedly caught every day swerves into you?
We have prepared a checklist for you to ensure your peace of mind:
ICE in this case is not frozen water, but an internationally known acronym for In Case of Emergency. Throughout the world everyone is encouraged to enter the acronym ICE into their mobile phone with the person's number they would like contacted In Case of Emergency. You can also have ICE1, ICE2, etc. on your phone to ensure that someone will always be available to answer any important details about your medical history.
At this time of year, thinking about insurance and what-if scenarios is on no one's to-do list, and it might sound morbid, but as your house is your most valuable asset and safety your highest priority, keep in mind what my mother always says about insurance: "If you have it, you probably won't need it, but peace of mind is the greatest gift you can give yourself."
