Tiger Woods - the cost of infidelity

Tiger Woods is in the spotlight but not for his sporting prowess this time. There have been numerous allegations of infidelity made and the world media has been following all the juicy revelations. The count of alleged affairs is going up all the time and it looks like there may be some truth to them. Without getting into the morality of it all there will be some cost involved to him. A celebrity sex scandal makes for plenty of interest but it is often not the right sort of interest. So what can Tiger expect to lose?

• Cash for alimony payments

 

Breaking up a family is never fun, and there are a bunch of associated costs that come with it. If his wife leaves him over the allegations he can expect to have to pay for both her and his children. When children are involved it becomes worse as they are his legal dependents even if he is no longer living with them. Now Tiger Woods is a seriously wealthy man and it may not bankrupt him, but he will be paying for these indiscretions for a long time to come. Let's hope that he has enough in his savings accounts to cover the damage.

He has already lost a sponsorship deal, and whilst the company that has withdrawn its support says it has nothing to do with the infidelity allegations, that the sponsorship withdrawal was in the pipeline for a long time, this may just be a way of saving face. It is entirely possible that he may lose further sponsorships. Tiger Woods made the bulk of his fortune in sponsorships rather than match winnings, it would be like you losing your job and being left with your hobby income. A sex scandal can seriously damage your budget plan.
