Eskom tariff hikes light the way

A DECISION on how much power utility Eskom will be allowed to raise its electricity prices this year will dominate local markets this week, given its implications for the inflation and interest rate outlooks.

The pressure is not off yet. Tito Mboweni held off the sharp increase last week, but warned of Eskom hike. Interest rates will more than likely rise again in August.
