Parliamentary staff have rejected an 11% pay increase offer from the legislature, saying it does not cover the rising cost of living.
Hundreds of workers - including general administration staff, researchers and managers but excluding members of parliament (MPs) and the speaker - are demanding a 14% pay increase and have vowed not to budge.

Justmoney.co.za says:

Well prices just keep going up and you just don't get as much bang for your buck anymore. Parliamentary workers know what its like on the ground, but does Parliament? In the absence of a 14% increase you could at least transfer the balance on your credit card, sort out your savings accounts and check your debt.
