General Motors South Africa (GMSA) planned to retrench about 520 jobs in its manufacturing and related areas because of the negative outlook for the new vehicle market, the company reported on Wednesday.
These job losses will be in addition to the 300 hourly employees who have left the company since the beginning of this year in terms of a voluntary separation programme, and a further 100 salaried staff who will be leaving between now and the end of the year.
