Power tariffs to double by 2011

Local electricity prices will increase as much as two and a half times in the next three years, after the National Energy Regulator of SA (Nersa) yesterday granted Eskom a total tariff increase of 27.5 percent for this year. Eskom had requested a hike that would have doubled energy prices between March 31 this year and April 1 next year.
